The Prince William County Model RR Club is having its monthly OPEN HOUSE at its permanent home and layout, in the newly restored RF&P/Amtrak/VIRGINIA RAILWAY EXPRESS Depot in QUANTICO, Va. Tour the PWMRC's 30' x 30' HO scale layout, the POTOMAC, DOMINION AND QUANTICO (PDQ) RR. COME AND MINGLE!!
Our layout is completely scenicked, with second stage scenery well underway, 260' of mainline, 140'of branchline, Digitraxx-remote control operated. "Engineers" of all ages are encouraged to grab a train throttle and "borrow" a train (including Thomas the Tank Engine!) for a few laps...! This is a walk-in, hands-on layout!
The Depot is located in the quiet town of Quantico, within the boundaries of the United States Marine Corps Base Quantico. You don't need any special pass or ID to gain entry to the base as the Town of Quantico is a civilian site, just a picture ID and current vehicle papers in case you are asked at the gate...usually a 30 second affair.
Quantico is approx. 25 miles south of Washington, DC , right off Interstate I-95 exit 150 and US Route 1. The exit is clearly marked by the USMC's new monumental Heritage Museum stretching into the sky like the Iwo Jima memorial,which is also open 363 days of the year to further enhance your trip!
Plenty of free parking, variety of good, cheap restaurants, watering holes, and lots of 1:1 Scale TRAINS!!! The former RF&P double track mainline is a scant few feet from our picture windows, and CSX, AMTRAK and VIRGINIA RAILWAY EXPRESS put on quite a show!!! A train usually passes every 15 minutes or so....!

I-95 exit 150 (town of Triangle, VA) to USMC MAIN GATE. 4 miles along main gate road to first traffic light beyond sharp right turn. Turn left at light, cross RR tracks, Depot is on right. Ample FREE parking in commuter lot.
